The All Naga Students� Association, Manipur (ANSAM) has taken serious note of the spurts of corruption in which funds meant for the hill areas had been misappropriated.
In a statement, the Naga students� body has threatened to agitate in the strongest manner if the Government does not redress the cases at the earliest.
ANSAM statement said that the Rs 75 lakhs meant for the computerizations of Land Records for the Manipur hill districts should be utilized immediately.
ANSAM asserted that Rs.5 lakhs each had been sanctioned for installing computer for the computerization of Land Records for the DC offices of CCpur, Senapati, Ukhrul, Tamenglong, Chandel and the for ADC office as well as all the SDO offices in the hill districts but the amount had not been utilized but deposited elsewhere by the Settlement Director.
The Naga students� body demanded that allegation of misuse of Rs.80 lakhs meant for Ukhrul district development, over Rs.66 lakhs misuse meant for IT Road repairing, Senapati�s Rs 1 crore CDA diversion in Senapati and Rs.6 crores or Tribal Development including that of Tamenglong should be immediately checked and take up necessary actions by the Government.
Otherwise, the student body would be constrained to take up agitation demanding justice, the statement warned.
Meanwhile, the tribal student leaders told Newmai News Network today that both Kuki Students� Organization (KSO) and ANSAM rushed to the Litan area of Ukhrul and resolved the controversy arising out of the killing of a person.
