Imphal, May 22 2016:
In view of the rising water levels of all major rivers draining Imphal valley, all the sluice gates of Ithai Dam have been opened.
Even as the water level of Imphal River remains steady although it is above danger level, Nambul River and Nambol River have started overflowing at different points.
Thoubal River is approaching warning level at 778.750 metres, informed a source in the IFCD.
Water from Imphal River have started seeping through concrete retaining walls built along the river at Yaiskul and water are flowing over to the adjoining highway.
