The recent State Cabinet decision to approve Gangte as a recognised dialect of the State was celebrated today in an impressive programme held at Kuki Inn with the presence of most of the tribe leaders under the aegis of Gangte Tribe Union.
At the same time, meritorious students of the Class X and XII exams conducted by various boards were also given a rousing felicitation by the GSO.
Attending the programme as the chief guest, ex-MP Kim Gangte while lauding the Cabinet decision, said "We feel even more visible.
And our elation knew no bound on being 'officially' admitted to the big family of Manipur" .
"Being a part of the Manipur family is not enough.
The Almighty might have His role for us towards bringing peace in the State," she said while urging her tribesmen to take the lead role in bringing peace and prosperity in the State.
Stressing on the need for peaceful coexistence among all communities of the State, Kim Gangte exhorted the Gangtes, particularly the youth and student organisations, to contribute their might for the overall welfare of the State.
S Pauminthang Gangte, Manager, SIDBI was the guest of honour.
Besides, the function was also attended by galaxies of prominent Gangte leaders such as P Gangte (Retd IGP), Benjamin Gangte, Retd Principal of DMCA; L Gangte, Retd ZEO; Lamboi, member of Chandel ADC; Priyadarshni M Gangte, Academician and writer; Lienkhopao Thangjom, Chairman of GLS; Dr ML Gangte, CMO, CRPF; chiefs, Church, youth and student leaders.
Dr David Gangte, MD; Th Paulalthuom and Donald K Gangte were also feted for their achievement in different fields besides awards being presented to successful students of Class X and XII exams.
Presentation of cultural items and songs from members of GAA was another highlights of the programme.
