Imphal, June 19 2013:
The Students' Wing of Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System has said that there is nothing to be cheerful and hopeful with the passing of a resolution by the State Legislative Assembly for the second time to press the Centre regarding implementation of ILPS in the State.
In a press conference held at DESAM head office today, Students' Wing Convenor Angamba Moirangthem said that repeated passing of the resolution would not serve any purpose until the State Government adopts a serious and sincere step to pressurize the Centre on the issue.
Angamba said that it is questionable how far the State Government has put in effort regarding the issue after last year's Assembly resolution.
He added that it was unfortunate to make the efforts of Students' Wing in bad taste by Chief Minister O Ibobi.
The Chief Minister must keep in mind that the undergoing campaign is for the protection of indigenous people of Manipur, he added.
Meanwhile, as part of the campaign to detect non-locals at various educational institutes, Students' Wing have today detected submission of application forms by non-locals for admission in various trades at ITI, Takyel.
In this regard, the Students' Wing urged the DCs and District Transport Officers not to issue domicile certificates and driving licenses to non-locals.
The Students' Wing also drew attention of the Imphal Municipal Council on issuing hawker permission to non-locals.
