Imphal, June 19 2013:
Report about super fine rice variety found adulterated with Urea and DAP (Diammonium Phosphate) has been confirmed today by experts of the Central Agriculture university (CAU) .
According to CAU Entomologist Associate Professor Kh Ibohal the rice sample collected from a Takyel Khongbal family was studied at the University laboratory and consequently presence of Urea and DAP was confirmed.
On the other hand, Director (Consumer Affairs, food and Public Distribution) M Yaiskul clarified that Irungbam Rajen is the authorised Fair Price Shop agent of Polling Station No.19/9 Takyel Khongbal Leikai and not Thokchom Rajen, from whom the said family reportedly procured the rice.
Further informing that I Rajen picked up his FPS quota on June 11 and exhausted the same four days later without any complaint from the recipients about adulteration, the Director revealed that further investigation is on to establish how and from where Th Rajen procured the rice brand.
