Ukhrul, May 15 2015 :
With more and more political party candidates and independents setting off a wave of conventional flag hoisting and campaign kick-off programs in different corners of the district for the coming ADC elections, Ukhrul is being virtually gripped by a spell of electioneering bustle.
However, going by the current developments , NPF candidates are apparently holding a lead in the campaign while other candidates and independents are either steadily gaining their momentum or campaigning in a less conspicuous manner for no obvious reasons across the district.
Consequently, most NPF candidates are holding or conducting their campaigns in the full glare of publicity while other political party candidates and independents are apparently giving it a miss though some of their party flags and symbols are seen fluttering vibrantly around the township.
Amid the scenario, NPF kicked off yet another campaign for its 6-Tolloi candidate Kapangpam Zimik in a function held at Ngaingu village ground on Friday.
Attending the ceremony as a special guest, MLA Ukhrul Samuel Risom pleaded for candidate Zimik while reiterating that if NPF candidates are elected in the ensuing ADC polls his party would ensure a positive change in the way funds are utilized for the development of the district.
Further, stating that if given a chance NPF would rectify various Constitutional anomalies in the hills, Risom alleged that the Ibobi-led government in the state is building 90 per cent of bridges in the valley, particularly Thoubal district.
In his address, candidate Zimik spelled out his desire to uplift the rights of Nagas which he claimed stands above assurance of development.
Johnson Angkang, PRO to MLA Risom exuded hope of fulfilling Suisa's age-old prophesy for settlement of Naga issue when rooster finally crows, while Wungnaoshang president NPF Ukhrul called for promoting brotherhood among Nagas in the Northeast through collective mandate in NPF.
Paul Muinao executive member NPF Manipur, RS Khathing chairman Ngaingu NPF Unit, M Elijah chairman Ngaingu development council and RS Khangamkhai Ngaingu headman also spoke during the function.
Hundreds of party workers and villagers from Ngaingu and Tallu villages attended the function.
Three candidates from NPF, INC and BJP are contesting the Tallu constituency in the ensuing ADC polls to be held on 1 June.
