The Public Action Committee constituted against the killing of Soram Prakeet of Uripok Sorbon Thingel today staged a sit in protest at different places along Uripok-Kang-chup Road demanding arrest of the culprit(s) behind the alleged murder case.
The PAC also announced that an indefinite bandh would be imposed along the Uripok-Kangchup and RIMS road from 7 am tomorrow.
Speaking to the media persons, PAC convenor T Raju said that the PAC was formed after the dead body of S Prakeet was found in the early morning of July 6 on an inter village road between Heingang and Kairang under Heingang police station and submitted at memorandum to Chief Minister O Ibobi on July 10 demanding arrest of the culprit(s) behind the murder case within five days but till today not a positive response has come from the side of the Government.
He continued that yesterday also they met the local MLA L Nandakumar regarding their demand but the MLA maintained that he could not do anything without evidence.
He further said that if the Government fails to take up necessary action regarding the murder case and arrest the culprit(s), then the PAC along with the locals will launch indefinite bandh along the Uripok-Kangchup road and RIMS road from tomorrow.
He also said that all the Government establishments will not be allowed to function during the indefinite bandh.
Soram Prakreet (38 ) s/o Tikendrajit of Uripok went along with a popular lady singer in an Activa moped on July 4 and his dead body was found two days later on the IVR leading to Kairang, he said.
He also said that mobile phone handset and a wallet of the victim were also found missing .
One syringe and a small packet of drug were found lying near the dead body and it was suspected that the syringe and the packet of drug were kept there by the murderers so that police and people might think that the victim died due to drug overdose, he said.
