3914 schools in whole Mizoram

In all there are 3914 schools in whole Mizoram at present which is composed of 1831 primary schools, 1381 middle schools, 584 high schools and 118 higher secondary schools, 'Zalen', a leading Sunday newspaper reported.
As per the report of 'Statistical Abstract of Mizoram : 2013' released recently, the maximum number of schools are in Aizawl district with 482 primary schools, 421 middle schools, 206 high schools and there 60 HSS inside Aizawl district.
While Serchhip district has the least number of schools with 113 primary schools, 94 middle schools, 38 high schools and 7 higher secondary schools.
According to Statistical Abstract of Mizoram, there are at present 8703 teachers in the primary school level, 9883 in middle schools, 4414 in high schools and 1468 teachers in higher secondary schools (HSS).
Majority of students is found in primary schools.
There are 161,581 students reading in Primary schools followed by middle schools with 89755 students.
While there are 38870 students in high schools and 21472 higher secondary schools.
The Statistical Abstract of Mizoram also mentioned that there are 21 colleges in the whole of Mizoram.
In Aizawl, there are 9 colleges running in the city for under graduate study, 2 in Mamit, 1 in Kolasib, 2 in Champhai, 1 in Serchhip, 3 in Lunglei, 2 in Lawngtlai and 1 in Saiha.
In all there are about 11754 students out of which 6033 are male students and 5721 are female students.
There are 636 lecturers/professors all over Mizoram.
