COAS visits Northern Command

Imphal, July 13 2014:
General Bikram Singh, Chief of Army Staff accompanied by Bubbles Singh, President Central Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA) is on a farewell visit to formations of Northern Command and arrived at Udhampur yesterday.
Earlier in the day, he visited Srinagar based Hqs 15 Corps, where he addressed and interacted with the troops.
He also called on the Chief Minister and the Governor of J&K .
At Udhampur, Gen Bikram Singh paid homage to the martyrs at Dhruva War Memorial.
He addressed all ranks and was accorded a warm farewell by troops of Hqs Northern Command.
During his address, he complemented all officers and men for their exemplary sense of duty, people friendly approach during counter terrorist operations, extending humanitarian assistance to Awaam and also in resolutely guarding the Northern frontiers.
He stressed on the rich military traditions, ethos and the value systems and the importance of remaining committed and focused to discharge our onerous responsibilities, while catering for all contingencies.
Bubbles Singh felicitated 21 Veer Naris in a ceremony organised at Udhampur.
Young Achievers award for outstanding achievement in academics and AWWA Achievers award for exemplary contribution to AWWA activities were also awarded in presence of large gathering of wives of all ranks of Dhurva command during the function.
Gen Bikram Singh retired from the Army today, said a press release issued by PIB (DW) .
