World Day against Child Labour observed at Senapati

The World Day Against Child Labour organised by MANEDA, Childline, Senapati was observed at Hope Centre, MANEDA, Senapati.
The observance function was graced by Th Louniiwo, Nodal Officer, Child Labour, Senapati as the chief guest; P Livingstone, Chairman, Child Welfare Committee, Senapati as the guest of honour in the presence of staff and members of District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), Senapati, Senapati District Women Association (SDWA), Senapati District Students Association (SDSA) and Hope Centre, MANEDA, Senapati.
T Peter Rangnamei, secretary, MANEDA in his welcome note said that the day was observed in the district for the first time realising its importance to be aware of fight against child labour.
Giving the definition of child labour, the secretary explained that it refers to the exploitation of children through any form of work that deprives children of their childhood, potential and dignity.

James Hau, vice president of the Senapati District Students Association spoke about the need to protect child's right.
The student leaders also expressed gratitude to the Hope Centre, MANEDA for taking care of children in the institute to make them a better citizens of the country.
Hannah, president of Senapati District Women Association also expressed happiness for giving importance to children and their rights on the occasion.
While stressing on the need to encourage and bring up a child in proper way to ensure a better future, she added that education is not only reading books but also about learning all good things of life.
P Livingstone, Chairman, Child Welfare Committee, Senapati also said that depriving children of their rights is harmful for the society.
The day is observed all over the world to let people aware the need to protect their rights as citizen of the country, he added.
Saying that children working in fireworks industry, mines, cowherds etc, could be termed as child labour, P Livingstone said that ex-ploitation of children's rights is punishable by law.
Speaking as the chief guest, Th Louniiwo, Nodal Officer, Child Labour, Senapati spoke about the acts and rules laid down for the welfare of a child.
He also talked about the danger of sending a child to hazardous jobs.
The chief guest said that working together with the Child Labour Department, Child Welfare Committee, Child Protection Unit and Child line could do wonders to protect the rights of a child.
The district Nodal Officer also appealed all to work together to wipe out child labour from the land to have a better future.
