NPF called Shashi Tharoor to tender apology

Kohima , August 07 2018:
Closed on the heel of the Congress leader Mr.Shashi Tharoor's remarks on the 'Naga Headgear ' where he termed it as 'Outlandish ' and 'Hilarious', the Naga People's Front opined that it has deeply hurt the sentiments of the Nagas , and hence request Mr.Tharoor to take back his word as the traditional Naga Headgear has certain values and honor attached to it.
The Naga People's Front as the only regional political party in the state of Nagaland that upholds the identity and values imbibe in the Naga way of life, has not taken well the rediculous remarks of Shashi Tharoor that tantamount to discrediting the traditional values and practices of the Nagas which is different from the rest of the world.
Recalling the siminar held at Thiruvananthapuram Press Club on Monday, where Mr.Tharoor stated , Quote "Why does our Prime Minister who wears all sorts of outlandish Headgear wherever he goes around the country , refuse to wear a Muslim Skullcap ?".Unquote.
In his address , the Congress leader said PM Modi was seen in ''Hilarious Naga Headgear , feathers and various kinds of extraordinary outfits , then why does he refuse to wear the green?'' asked Mr.Tharoor.The Naga People's Front, as a regional political party that promote the values of secularism could sense the message sent acrossed by Mr.Tharoor while shooting off at the BJP lead Modi govt.which is obviously communal in nature .Nevertheless , the NPF detest the idea of tagging and dragging along the 'Naga Headgear ' into the crossfire of the BJP and the Congress party which is very unbecoming of a leader.
While respecting the views of the Congress veteran Mr.Shashi Tharoor on his stand about the PM reluctance to accept or wear the 'Muslim Skullcap 'which has serious ramifications on the religious sentiments of the Muslims, the NPF would like to point out that Nagas have their own unique traditional practices .And unlike the 'Skullcap ' that represents the Muslim religion, or the 'Cow' that represents the Hindu religious beliefs , the 'Naga Headgear' does not represent any religion for the Nagas.
Rather , it is a symbol of respect and status accorded to an honored guest or revered persons of a certain community.
To refer the Naga Headgear as 'Outlandish' and 'Hilarious' is very unfortunate and uncalled for ,on the part of a learned man such as Mr.Tharoor, who is well known for his deep political insights and eloquence of speech .
The Naga People's Front has called upon the Congress leader Mr.Shashi Tharoor to tender apology to his comments immediately.
