Imphal, August 07 2014:
A 37-year-old woman, wife of a NAB Constable, has been allegedly beaten up severely by another Constable residing as a neighbour at Commando Complex, Minuthong.
Narrating her ordeal to reporters, victim Salam Ongbi Ibemhal said that she is staying together with her husband Salam Robindro of Nambol Heinoubok, her mother-in-law and minor son in Quarter Type (II) B-9 of Commando Complex.
On August 4 at around 6 pm, Heisnam Dhanabir alias Chaoba (50), a police Constable posted at Jessami, allegedly pulled her hair hard and bashed her up severely on the charge that she showed finger to Dhanabir, Ibemhal said.
She added that her husband Robindro was not in the quarter when the incident happened.
Ibemhal lamented that Dhanabir assaulted her probably with an intention to outrage her modesty and take her life.
Ibemhal added that although she could not immediately tell about the incident to her husband as she feared for possible altercation between Dhanabir and her husband, she informed the matter to other family members residing at Nambol Heinoubok.
After her husband came to know about the incident, she was hospitalised at RIMS, Ibemhal added.
Although, a complaint was lodged at Imphal Police Station the next day, no action has been taken against Dhanabir till date, Ibemhal said.
Taking strong exception of police inaction, Ibemhal urged the authority concerned to immediately take action against Dhanabir.
