Cast aside inferiority complex call rung out on IDPD

As in other parts of the world, the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, was observed today at different parts of Manipur.
The Department of Social Welfare observed the day at Ideal Blind School, Takyel, in the presence of MCPCR Chairman S Sharatkumar Sharma; Deaf and Mute School, Takyel, Headmaster K Tuleshwar Singh and Deputy Director, Department of Social Welfare Manipur, Th Dilipkumar Singh, who graced the observance as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
MCPCR Chairman S Sharatkumar urged Persons with Disabilities to cast aside the feeling of being different or inferior and work hard towards a goal.

The International Day of Persons with Disabilities was also observed at Manipur Press Club under the theme, 'Achieving 17 goals for the future we want' .
The observance was organised by the Handicapped Development Foundation Manipur, Welfare Association for the Blind, Saksham Manipur Prant in collaboration with the Manipur State Legal Services Authority.
State Commission for the Persons with Disabilities Dr RK Kumarjit; Manipur State Commission for Women Dr K Sobita Devi; AMWJU president Wangkhemcha Shamjai; Handicapped Development Foundation chairman Dr Ch Rupachandra; SAKSHAM Manipur Prant vice president Thangjam Sharat; Manipur State Legal Services Authority Member Ch Momon and Welfare Association for the Blind president Y Brajamohon were the presidium members of the observance.
In the meantime, Relief Centre for the Welfare of Differently Abled Persons, Manipur, in association with State Commission for Persons with Disabilities, Manipur and Northern Disability Institute Manipur flagged off the 4th Winter Disabled Mela for Inclusive Society at Tera Primary School, Tera Bazar, on the occasion of the International day of Persons with Disabilities today.
Altogether, 25 stalls are set up at the mela.
State Commission for PWD MD Dr RK Kumarjit Singh, former president of the Relief Centre for the Welfare of Differently Abled Persons Ch Opendro Singh, District Social Welfare Officer A Kameshwar Singh and National Awardee Amarendra were the chief guest, president and guest of honour of the opening function of the fair.
Programme consultant RN Koireng delivered the keynote address.
The fair will provide a platform to persons with disabilities to showcase their talents.
A documentary titled 'We are for you" that records the talents of the differently abled persons in Manipur was released at the opening function.
