Vendors hail State Govt

Khwai-ramband market vendors have welcomed the decision of the State Government for arrangement of a makeshift market place for the affected women vendors at the public parking to the North of the Temporary Market shed .
They have also appealed to the authorities concerned to speed up the repairing and construction of the damaged market sheds so they can resume their business.
Addressing media persons, Manipur Keithel Pham-bi Apunba Lup president L Memma said 11 representatives of Khwairamband women vendors responded to the Chief Minister's request for a meeting yesterday.
The team met Chief Minister Okram Ibobi, Works Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar, Social Welfare Minister AK Mirabai, IMC Chairperson, Executive and Dr M Nara at the office of the CM where the vendors were urged to suggest the most suitable place to rehabilitate the affected women vendors.
By the end of the meeting, both the parties had agreed upon arranging a makeshift market place at the public parking to the North of the Temporary Market, she said.
Works Minister along with Social Welfare Minister and ICM officials measured the area for setting the market place at around 7 pm yesterday.
Imphal Municipal Corporation released a statement notifying the setting up of the makeshift market at the public parking at Temporary Market yesterday.
It appealed for immediate halting of vending and parking of vehicles at the site until the completion of the repairing work.
Street vendors have reportedly vacated the area today.
