Womenfolk of Salam Awang Leikai and Salam Kiyam today staged a wakat meepham in protest against terrorising the family of former Zilla Parishad member of Awangkhunou Zilla Parishad, Haorungbam Tombi.
Demanding clarification on the incident, the protesters urged the concerned not to repeat the same in future.
Detailing on the incident, H Tombi said that around three-four unidentified youths barged into his residential compound and shouted to come out on the night of September 2 at around 11 pm.
As nobody of his family did not respond to their call, the youths threw stones and tried to break the shutter of his house using logs.
On hearing their shouts, wife of Tombi's brother, Mikhubi and her son Doren, who were residing next to Tombi's house came out and inquired about their problem.
However, the youths took out a small arm and told the duo that they had no business on the matter.
Mikhubi and Doren requested the unknown youths to come the next day to talk over the matter.
The youths then went back by leaving a mobile phone number to contact them, Tombi added.
The former Zilla Parishad member said that the number is however not working.
The former Zilla Parishad member said he had not receive any monetary demand from any organisation.
Urging the concerned to come and talk over the matter during day time if they have any problem with him, Tombi also requested them not to repeat such act which may terrorise his family in future.
