An Assam Rifles jawan sustained injury in gunfight with undergrounds at two different places.
One of the gunfight occurred at Kharan village of Kasom Khullen sub-division of Ukhrul district while another occurred at Phunga village of the same district.
Reports said that the gun clash at Khran village occurred between a combined force of Assam Rifles and Police Commandos today.
The combined force conducting counter insurgency operation in the Kharan village and its surrounding areas since last night clashed with the underground at about 10 am today.
Even though the village lies within the Ukhrul district, it is covered by Yairipok police station and located around 10 kilometer on the south east of the police station.
No reports of occurring casualties on both the security and underground sides reported.
However, additional force rushed to the spot for further operation, reports said.
The other gun clash occurred at Phuga village of Ukhrul district bordering with Chandel district this afternoon at about 3.30 pm.
Sudden interception between the security force and underground led to the eruption of the clash, report said.
In the clash a personnel of the Assam Rifles sustained injury with bullet, report said but his identity could not established till the time of fling this report.
