Imphal, June 24 2019: Chief Minister N Biren Singh today inaugurated Behiang Police station in the interior part of Manipur under Singhat Sub Division at Indo-Myanmar Border.

This is perhaps the first Police station in the village.

The newly inaugurated Police station has 2 barracks with a capacity of at least 40 personnel's each.

The strength of Behiang police station is 50 personnel only.

T Liankhansang is the Officer in charge of the station.

Speaking on the occasion Chief Minister N Biren said the Police should not only look after the law and order of the place but also help the people of the village in every way they can.

He added that they should also help the people of the village in education and many more.

The Chief Minister appealed the Police to interact with the people by listening to their grievances of the people besides maintaining law and order situation of the area.

Biren further said that a government cannot be run by sitting only in Imphal.

He said that their government likes to deliver actions not mere lip service.

Highlighting the reason behind the construction of Behiang Police station N.Biren said that the Police station was built to make Behiang a Border trade centre.

He said that he urged the transport ministry to make a highway passing through Behiang which will be alternate route to Myanmar.

He also said that the Police station was constructed and completed within six, seven months with the tremendous support and coordination of the people of Behiang.

Biren further added that his government primarily focuses on education and around 24 crores was earmarked for education.

He also assured to make a ring road round the border area of Manipur which would cost around 800 crores.

He concluded that with the opening of the Police station proper checking of illegal immigrants and also other illegal activities like drug trafficking is a must.

V Hangkhalian Minister of Agriculture, Veterinary and Animal Husbandry said that the people of Behiang village wanted to be a place for 2nd international Border trade next to Moreh.

Education minister Th Radheshyam said that the main objective of the present government was reaching the unreachable.

"Inauguration of the police station in the border area of the state is a part of the objective held by the government", he added.

He also said that Police were the first line of action of the government.

He appealed the people to work as one team between the public and Police which is more important in such interior part of the state.

He also assured that the government will try to recruit teachers from the respective district to decrease proxy teachers.

Forest and Environment Minister Th Shyamkumar assured to open a forest office which will mainly deal with the plantation of plants and trees.

He further assured that a Horticulture Department will also be opened and to plant various plants which will increase the economy of the people.

The inaugural function was attended by V.Hangkhalian Minister of Agriculture, Veterinary and animal Husbandry, Karam Shyam Minister of Revenue and CAF&PD, Th.Shyamkumar Minister of Forest & Environment and MAHUD, Losii Dikho Minister of PHED and Printing and stationary, Th Radheshyam Minister of Education, Labour & Employment, Ginsuanhau Zou MLA of Singhat AC, J Suresh Babu Chief Secretary Government of Manipur and DGP LM Khaute as Dias members.

As a part of the inaugural function Chief Minister along with various Ministers planted trees inside the station compound.

A software named Ye Smart Hospital Management System, Behiang was also launched which is first of its kind in the entire North east where it enable coordination between the patients and doctors.

A memorandum was also submitted to the Chief Minister by the people of Behiang.
