JCILPS seeks aid, mobilizes local labour force

Imphal, September 15 2014: Stating that it is facing acute financial difficulties, the Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) has sought monetary aid from all the people of the land who support the ILPS movement.

The movement of ILPS remains a vibrant and genuine public issue because of people's active participation and massive support extended by all sections of society physically and mentally.

JCILPS is hopeful that indigenous people of the State continue to support the movement until its objective is achieved, said a press release issued by its publicity committee convenor Waikhom Ananda Meetei.

With a view to sustain the movement, JCILPS sought donation from the public but the volunteers were harassed by the police apart from seizing receipt book, documents and even money, it alleged.

The JCILPS has moved the first step to set up a Regional Labour Force in order to prevent outsiders from taking control of the State's economy, social practices, political power and land.

After a survey which covered different districts of the State, mobilization of indigenous labourers started since June this year.

A joint body of around 145 local barbers christened Samkak Lup, Manipur has been established after a general body meeting.

Due procedures to register the body after setting up an executive body and open salons at appropriate places have been initiated.

But there are certain constraints in the form of deposits for taking salons on rents, inability to buy tools and equipment etc.

Nonetheless, negotiation is on with donors for sponsorship of hair-cutting trade.

JCILPS also appealed to all the people to encourage and sustain the trade of local barbers by being their customers.

Likewise, JCILPS has been working to introduce local labourers to myriad trades but it needs people's support, it said.

The JCILPS further called upon people of the State to come forward and cultivate a vibrant work culture.

Meanwhile Waithou Mangagi Apunba Lup staged a sit-in protest demanding the implementation of Inner Line Permit System in the State at Waithou Bazar today.

The meira paibis burnt the effigy of Additional SP Y Victoria and demanded that the State Government take up stern against her.

Slogans like "Stern action against Additional SP Victoria", "Unconditional release of the arrested students" were also raised by the meira paibis.

JCILPS Convenor H Ibotomba Khuman and Co-Convenor Somorendro Thokchom joined the sit-in protest as the resource persons.

Stepping up the ongoing mass movement for Implementation of Inner Permit System in the State, suspension of Additional SP Y Victoria and unconditional release of all the members of the Committee who were arrested in connection with the ongoing ILP movement, an auto and Magic Iris rally was organized on September 14 by Kha-Kanglei Apunba Yelhoumi Lup (KKAYEL) in collaboration with Tekcham to Thoubal, Tekcham to Kakching, Khongjom to Kakching and Langathel to Kakching Diesel Auto & Magic Iris Owners' and Drivers' Association.

The rally was flagged off from Tekcham Leibung Leikai at around 8.30 am and passed through Patpal, Khongjom, Langathel, Phundrei, Wangjing and wound up at Tekcham Polo Ground.

Kha-Kanglei Apunba Yelhoumi Lup (KKAYEL) General Secretary, Chongtham Sanatomba Meitei said that they fully endorse all the steps taken up by JCILPS which is spearheading the ongoing demand for implementation of ILP system.
