Daily surge continues with 736 new cases, 10 deaths

Imphal, August 08 2021:
The surge continues and so too the high daily positivity rate and daily number of deaths due to the virus.
In the last 24 hours, Manipur reported 736 new positive cases including 3 Central security personnel to take the cumulative number of positive cases to 1,04,324 including 4,057 Central security personnel.
Of the 733 civilians who tested positive in the last 24 hours, 382 are women.
The total 736 positive cases were detected out of a total of 5,597 samples tested in the last 24 hours to take the daily positivity rate to 13.1 percent.
During the same period of time, 10 persons passed away due to the virus to take the cumulative number of deaths to 1650 .
Out of the 10 deaths, 9 persons had co-morbidities and none of them had received their vaccination jabs, said the COVID-19 Common Control Room, quoting the State Level COVID-19 Deaths Audit Committee.
The 736 positive cases were detected during testing at RIMS (49), JNIMS (15), District Hospitals (526) and other testing centres (146) .
The 733 positive cases from amongst the civil population are from Imphal East (206), Imphal West (244), Thoubal (37), Bishnupur (66), Kakching (19), Ukhrul (19), Churachandpur (42), Chandel (10), Senapati (13), Tamenglong (11), Tengnoupal (1), Noney (54), Pherzawl (7) and Kangpokpi (4) .
As usual the COVID-19 Common Control Room claimed that precautionary measures such as containment and contact tracing are in place.
On the other hand, 921 persons were discharged in the last 24 hours from home isolation (463), RIMS (11), JNIMS (7), CCCs (238) and CHICs (202).With 921 more discharged, the cumulative number of recovered cases is 94,723 including 3964 Central security personnel and the recovery rate stands at 90.79 percent.
The number of active cases on the other hand is 7951 including 88 Central security personnel.
On August 7, a total of 10,119 people received their vaccination jabs to take the total of vaccinated people to 13,90,305 including 2,45,017 people who have received their second shot.
A total of 2066 D Type Oxygen cylinders and 300 B Type Oxygen cylinders were made available to different health centres across the State.
The number of Covid beds available at different health centres as on August 8, 2021 are Iland Hospital (General beds-12), MSF, Little Flower School (4 ICU beds), CMC, Koirengei (General beds-32, ICU beds-6), Iboyaima Hospital (General beds-19, ICU-1), Jivan Hospital, Kakching (General beds-13, ICU beds-6), Shija Hospital (General beds-7, ICU beds-8), Raj Medicity (General beds-43, ICU beds-10), RIMS (General beds-47, ICU beds-24) .
