Imphal, December 30 2015 :
Cases of some privileged/influential persons including police personnel collecting LPG refills with or without letter heads have dropped to about a half, according to LPG distributors.
However, collection of LPG refills by 'influential persons' with or without letterhead still persists.
The authority concerned is yet to take up measures to stop or check illegal means of collecting LPG refills or the lopsided distribution pattern.
It is better to give a refilled LPG cylinder to them (influential persons) instead of confronting them, an LPG distributor said.
The distributors further said that this grim reality should be acknowledged by all concerned.

Meanwhile, an LPG consumer told The Sangai Express that LPG requirement of the State could not be met due to shortage of LPG shipment into the State.
The required amount of LPG could not be shipped in the State due mainly to law and order problem, frequent bandh and blockade along the highways.
He said that the State Govt is not paying enough attention to shortage of subsidised LPG in the State as it does to PDS items.
As such, it is pertinent to question if there is any conspiracy in this regard.
