CM bats for 100 pc literacy rate

Saying that the current literacy rate of Manipur is just 77 pc, Chief Minister O Ibobi has urged all concerned to make collective efforts to achieve cent percent literacy rate.
He was addressing the closing ceremony of 21st Annual Sports Meet-2015 of RK Sanatombi Vidyalaya cum inauguration of stadium of RK Sanatombi Devi College of Education at Haotal Pangei today.
He said that the State Govt is giving priority to the education and health sectors.
As such, the Govt is working hand in hand with private players in order to develop the two sectors.
To educate girls is to pave way for development of the society,
he said.
O Ibobi urged all concerned to contribute in developing human resource of the State.
Hailing the role of RK Sanatombi Devi Vidyalaya in providing education to girl children, the Chief Minister assured to extend possible assistance to the school's authority in its future endeavours.
Dy CM Gaikhangam, who attended the function as the president, urged the students to imbibe discipline and obedience.
He said education without discipline is useless.
He said that RK Sanatombi Devi Vidyalaya has played an immense role in developing the human resource of the State.
Gaikhangam said that education is the basic necessity of life.
Director of College Development Council, Ratankumar said that education is not only about getting high marks in exams but to pave the way for exploring the potential .
The stadium inaugurated today is constructed at the cost of Rs 81 lakh under UGC funding.
The building is dedicated to former Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court, late RK Manisana.
Apart from receiving the guard of honour from march past contingents, the CM also released the annual magazine of the institute, ' Sanarik Pareng.
' Prizes were also distributed to winners of different competitions.
