Imphal, January 21 2016:
Chief Minister O Ibobi today called for collective efforts of all concerned for development of the State.
The CM was addressing the 44th Statehood Day celebration today at the Manipur Film Development Corporation (MFDC) Hall, Palace Gate.
O Ibobi asserted that even though the State is geographically isolated, it has excelled in different sectors like health, power, education and scored high in literacy rate.
He further said that the working season of the State is limited to a few months which handicaps developmental works.
Besides, frequent economic blockade and bandh along the National Highways and in the State by many CSOs has seriously decelerated the pace of development.

The CM urged the people to extend their fullest support to developmental works taken up by the State Government.
Even though the State is 44 years old, it faces inad- equate allotment of funds for development works from the Central Government, he as- serted.
Remembering his first term as the Chief Minister in 2002, he said the State Gov- ernment had to literally beg for funds from the Centre.
Fund allocation is meagre and it severely hampers de- velopment works, he said while adding that the people should understand the hard- ships faced by the State Government.
Any problem or issue faced by the State should be solved within and no outsiders will help in solving the State's problems, he said.
Instead of taking the words and suggestions of others, people of the State should solve any issues like people do in a close-knit family, the CM added.
Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam graced the function as the functional president and Health and Family Welfare Minister Phungjathang Tonsing was the guest of honour.
Organized by the Government of Manipur, the 44th Statehood Day Celebration also witnessed a number of high ranking civil and police officials.
Parliamentary Secretaries and MLAs also attended the function.
Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam while extending Statehood Day greetings to the gatherings said that it was unfortunate that some officials have wilfully defied the order of the Govt which asked them to attend the function.
He said that action should be taken against such officials.
"To be self reliant, we all need to work tirelessly with love, respect and dignity for other people," he added.
