Governor, CM lead in extending Gaan-Ngai greetings

of Manipur, V
Shanmuganathan, Chief
Minister O Ibobi and others
have extended heartiest
greetings to the people of the
State particularly
Zeliangrong brethren on
the joyous and auspicious
occasion of Gaan-Ngai.
In his greeting mes-
sage, Governor V
Shanmuganathan said
that one positive develop-
ment over the years is
that Gaan-Ngai festival
along with its religious
fervour has become a
major cultural event of
not only the Zeliangrong
community but of other
communities as well.
Though essentially an
occasion of worship and
devotion, Gaan-Ngai is
also an occasion of
making joy and merri-
ment, the Governor said.
He urged all concerned
to join the celebration of
Gaan Ngai in a spirit of
friendship and brother-
hood with traditional
gaiety and devotion and
ring in the new year for a
peaceful and prosperous
Manipur.
CM O Ibobi said that
Gaan-Ngai, the biggest
cultural and religious post
harvest festival of the
Zeliangrong community is
also an institution
through which the
community sustains their
cultural heritage and way
of life.
It is the essence of
the Zeliangrong culture.
The CM wished the
festival brings happiness and prosperity and spreads the message of unity,
love, peace and brotherhood amongst all communities for a better
Manipur.
The BJP Kisan Morcha, Manipur Pradesh and CPI (M-L)
Liberation, Manipur State Committee have also extended
heartiest Gaan-Ngai greetings.
