Tokay Gecko rescued

Four Tokay Geckos kept inside a cage were rescued by a joint team of People's for Animal (PFA), Thoubal and Imphal PS .
Producing the rescued Tokay Geckos before the media at Imphal PS premises this afternoon, Managing Trustee of PFA Thoubal, Lourembam Biswajit said following inputs about a deal that has been going on regarding the sale and purchase of Tokay Geckos at Langol, OC of Imphal PS, Inspector Shantikumar was informed by the PFA this morning.
The OC acted swiftly by deputing a team of police personnel led by SI L Premchand along with members of PFA to Langol.
The team found an abandoned cage near Langol parking today around 11.30am.On closer inspection, five Tokay Geckos, including a dead one, were found inside the cage.
He said the rescued Tokay Geckos would be under the custody of PFA Thoubal as measure of temporary care.
Biswajit said the reptiles would be freed in the jungle within couple of days in consultation with the Forest department officials.
He further stated that the PFA, Thoubal has rescued around 43 Tokay Geckos since the last 3/4 months.
