Don Bosco College organises weeklong rural camp

Senapati, January 11 2022: The Department of Social Work, BSW 3rd Semester of Don Bosco College (Autonomous) Maram' is holding a week-long Rural Camp at Emefiithumai Village Senapati District under the theme "Discover, Disseminate and Develop" .

There are forty-three students accompany by two assistant professors, Mr Evergreat Wanglar and Mrs Vanilla Veronica.

The seven-day rural camp was launched in the presence of Mr Hriini Athikho, the former Village Chief, and Pastor Daili Nekhini, the local Pastor.

Mr Hriini Athikho, the Chief Guest, hoists the flag at the opening of the Inaugural ceremony.

The primary objectives of the Rural Camp are to give Social Work students a better understanding of rural living and help them enhance their professional skills by establishing need-based programmes and awareness with the help of the local community, as well as to assist students in integrating key life values.

Additionally, to assist students in developing personal and professional abilities, as well as to encourage self-growth in processes such as decision-making, planning, organising, executing, coordinating, recording, and report writing.

The students held a cleanliness drive on January 9, 2022, and installed 22 dustbins prepared by the campers.

Cleanings were also carried out in various hamlet locations by the campers, who were separated into five groups.

The locals took an active role in ensuring the success of the cleanliness initiative.

On 10th of January, 2022 the campers had a self-exposure by visiting the waterfall Phre phapha located at the outskirt of the village, which was 8 hours of walk by foot, accompanied by the two assistant professors and three village guides.

The exposure ended well with numerous experiences and learning for the students.

Moreover, the students also had a adventurous journey.

The students will be carrying out various other activities, such as Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA), Soft Skills, Field Experience, and Cultural programmes until January 14, 2022 .
