200 litres of DIG liquor seized, disposed

Imphal, January 11 2022:
Continuing its drive against sale and consumption of addictive substances, Coalition Against Drugs & Alcohol (CADA) conducted special drives in several areas of Imphal East and Imphal West districts and seized around 200 litres of distilled illicit country (DIC) liquor and disposed them on Tuesday.
The locally brewed liquor were seized from Thangjam Thoibi (86), wife of Th Chaoba of Sawombung (Paona Bazar Nambul Mapal Hotel); Lamabam Kamala (45), wife of L Tiken of Kangjabi Leirak (Paona Bazar Nambul Mapal Hotel); Laishram Sundari (40), wife of L Bolai of Bamdiar (Paona Bazar Nambul Hotel); Mutum Sakhi (45), wife of M Tomba of Kyamgei Awang Leikai (hotel opposite MU Gate); Sanglakpam Ganga (48), Wife of S Brajamohon of Kyamgei (MU Gate); Thokchom Sunita (50), wife of Th Shyam of Kyamgei (MU Gate opposite); Ningombam Gopal (48) of Thongju Part II (Canchipur Heijingang Keithel); Ningombam Chanchan (45), wife of N Angouba of Thongju Part II (Canchipur Heijigang Keithel); Waikhom Anishkumar (38) of Thongju Part II (MU gate hotel)'and Usham Jandhoni (68) of Thongju Part II (MU gate).
The seized liquor were disposed near teishang Hiden by burning.
Informing this in a release, CADA pointed out that there has been increasing consumption of alcohol and other addictive substances in name of the gathering for election.
As such, unwanted incidents and violence are happening frequently.
The government should be held responsible for such unwanted incidents, the release added.
