Imphal, October 31 2013: The three-day Bharat Nirman Campaign organised by PIB Imphal in collaboration with sister organisations concluded today at Koshang memorial community hall, Khangshim village in Chandel District.

The valedictory function was graced by Angshem Tontang, social worker as chief guest; M Kanankumar IMPCC Manipur and A Tothang Khulakpi of Khangshim village as guests of honour.

James Khaling, former chairman village authority Khangshim village presided over the function.

Speaking at the occasion, Kanankumar said, public information campaign is for making all aware what the Government of India has done for the common masses.

A Tothang Khulakpi of Khangshim village speaking at the function thanked the organiser for bringing the campaign at her village.

She appealed to all to translate the knowledge they have gained into action for speedy development of the village.

Angshem Tontang said that whether a village has received the light of development or not can be grasped by looking to the faces of poor people.

Unless the villages are developed at par with the town areas a nation cannot be called developed.

It is really heart breaking to see the life style prevalent here in the village, which is in precarious condition.

Health care is in dismal position basic amenities are absent.

But the Government of India spends crores of rupees for development of rural areas, he said adding that we must attempt to know whether we are getting the funds meant for us by using mechanism introduced by the Government.

James Khaling said one should attempt to gain knowledge by attending such campaign programmes launched at rural areas of the state.

He said attending such programme is like picking up gold from the road.

The valedictory function ended with the presentation of prizes to those who participated in the exhibition programme held as a part of the campaign.

A theme based short play was also presented by the artistes of Cosmopolitan Dramatic Union, Imphal.

46 schools have been absorbed by the state Government out of 181 schools existing in the district.

70 primary schools have been set up.

He also said residential training camps have been held for the young children.
