The spate of bloody incidents gripping the State continues as security forces gunned down three suspected activists of different underground organisations today.
In an encounter with a combined force of Imphal East commandos and troops of 32 AR near Eco-Tourism Park beside Yaral Pat located about 6 kms East of Porompat, two suspected PULF cadres were slain at about 4 this evening.
According to information received from the police, the combined force moved in to Top Khongnangkhong area at about 3.30 pm following information that some UG cadres were present in the area.
On approaching Top Khongnangkhong, the combined force spotted two persons riding a Bajaj Pulsar motor cycle (MN-03S 0479).Immediately, security personnel chased the motor cycle.
As the motor cyclists fired two rounds towards the security force, the combined force retaliated.
After the firing ceased, the combined force on searching the area found bodies of the two near the Eco-Park.
One AK 56 rifle, one magazine, five live rounds, one 9 mm pistol and a magazine with four rounds were recovered from the spot.
Porompat police picked up the corpses and deposited the same at RIMS morgue.
In another incident, a youth who allegedly had a hand grenade was shot dead by the security escorts of MLA Ng Bijoy.
The youth was slain while trying to flee when the security personnel attempted to arrest him.
The incident took place near AK Book Store, RIMS Road at about 6.30 pm today.
The youth was found dead beside the mandop of one Saikhom Nabakishore (64) of Uripok Haorangbam Leikai.
It is reported that a Chinese hand grenade was recovered from his possession.
The unidentified youth was found wearing black pants though bare at the top.
One bullet which hit him in the left side of his back exited through chest.
Police have deposited the corpse at RIMS mortuary.
