Issuing stern warning against non-conforming to work quality in the development of inter-village roads under the Centrally sponsored scheme of PMGSY, Rural Development & Panchayati Raj Minister Md Allauddin Khan has stated that bills would not be released if the works have not been executed satisfactorily.
Talking to mediapersons after inspecting progress of the work being taken up in Bishnupur district under the 5th phase of the PMGSY today, the Minister said no one should give undue interference in the road development work being taken up so that the people can reap the benefit.
He also appealed to the people to stay alert and observe whether quality of the work being executed with funding from the Union RD Ministry and matching State share is properly maintained or not and submit the report to him for taking up necessary action.
The bills of the works which do not maintain prescribed specification and quality would be stalled, the Minister said.
During the tour, the Minister inspected condition of the 9 km long road being constructed from Moirang to Kumbi under Kumbi Assembly Constituency.
It is said that the total estimated cost for construction of said road till the stage of black topping is Rs 2.81 crores besides another amount of Rs 11 lakhs for maintenance of the road.
The construction work of the road commenced in March last year and it is expected to be completed by February next.
The Minister also inspected progress of the road construction works in Bishnupur and Nambol Assembly Constituencies.
In Bishnupur, the work is being taken up along the 12.9 km long road stretching from Ngachoupokpi to Potsangbam.
The estimated cost for black-topping of the road covering places like Ngaikhong Siphai, Ngaikhong Khunou, Toubul, Khoijuman, Kwasiphai, Nachou, Ngakchoupokpi and Potsangbam is said to be Rs 3.56 crores and Rs 15.87 lakhs for its maintenance.
The target is being kept to complete construction of the road by February next year.
As for the construction of the 9.55 km long road from Langpok to Ishok under Nambol Assembly, so far WBM stage has been achieved but black-topping is yet to be started.
The total estimated cost for construction of the road is said to be Rs 2.76 crores over and above Rs 11.70 lakhs for its maintenance.
The work is expected to be completed next year.
MLA of Kumbi Assembly Constituency N Mangi, Superintendent Engineer of State Rural Road Development Agency and other officials accompanied the Minister during the inspection tour.
