Vehicular movement along NH 53 from Jiri to Silchar was disrupted today due to 12 hours bandh called by the public of Phailapool, Cachar district, Assam in protest against the killing of two persons by Dima Halan Daogha (Black Widow) militants.
Sameran Sukhlabaidya (38) and Raju Khan (23) were eliminated after they were kidnapped for ransom of Rs 20 lakhs together with Muna Khan (20) who managed to escape from the custody of the militants.
Both the deceased wee residents of Phailapool.
The trio were kidnapped from Harinagar near Phailapool in the midnight of September 30.It is reported that Sukhlabaidya was a supervisor for a PMGSY contract work who was looking after a road construction work from Harinagar to Kalinagar.
Raju Khan was a driver while Muna Khan was helper to Raju.
Sukhlabaidya and Raju were killed by the DHD militants for the failure to Sukhlabaidya to fulfil the monetary demand of the outfit.
In follow up action by Army, one DHD cadre has been killed.
Combing operation has also been launched in suspected areas by Assam Rifles and Army to track down the militants.
Situation is reported to be tense in the particular sub-division of Cachar district.
The bandh ended at 6 pm this evening.
