Mega Manipur TT: Imphal West's Thokchom Bincy sweeps U-11, U-13 singles titles

Imphal, May 26 2025: Imphal West's Thokchom Bincy produced dominating performances to claim both the U-11 and U-13 girls singles titles as compatriot Sanjenbam Ankita won the U-15 title in the 1 st Mega Manipur Table Tennis Tournament hosted by the Manipur Table Tennis Women's Wing.

Bincy laid her hands on the U-11 girls title today by beating Shanglakpam Nelly of Imphal East in straight sets (11-9, 11-8, 11-7) before pulling off a hardfought 3-2 sets win (11-6, 7-11, 11-8, 9-11, 11-5) against compatriot Thokchom Brishtee in the U-13 title clash.

S Ankita meanwhile registered a commanding 11-4, 11-6, 11-8 win against Ningombam Riya of Thoubal in the U-l5 girls final to finish on top.

The U-l 1 boys singles title in the meantime went to RK Athoiba of Imphal East who pulled off a 3-1 sets win (14-12, 6-11, 11-3, 11-7) against L Sahil of Kakching in the final today before Nameirakpam Ambrose rallied back from the first set down to seal a 3-1 sets win (8-11, 11-15, 11-8, 11-9) in a keenly contested final clash for U-15 boys' singles against RK Sahil of Imphal West.

Yengkhom Pumachandra in the meantime earned the U-15 boys singles title with a straight sets win (12-10, 11-9, 11 -7) against Sagolshem Hemjit in an all-Thoubal final clash.

Notably, S Chandra sealed the title of the men's 65+ singles title yesterday by defeating RK Debendra in straight sets (11-6, 11-6, 11-5) as N Colman and Th Dharmendra earned the men's doubles crown beating N Sidharth and Ksh Nelson 11-9, 11-4, 11-7 in the final match.

S Joychandra and T Manihar were also crowned men's 60+ doubles champions as they got the better of S Chandra and AK Rajkumar 11-9, 11-2, 11-5 in the final.
