Lt Col Robert TA Memorial Badminton Tournament kicks off on September 23

Imphal, September 21 2024: Indian Army, under Op Sadbhavana, will organise the Lt Col Robert TA Memorial Badminton Tournament at Rikhumai Indoor Badminton Hall in Senapati district from September 23 to 27, 2024 .

Lt Col Robert TA, was the , first Maram Naga to be commissioned in the Engineer Regiment of Indian Army as an officer in 2004 .

The officer made the supreme sacrifice on May 14, 2020 while serving in north Sikkim, leading a snow clearance expedition team clearing an avalanche, said a press release from the Ministry of Defence, Manipur, Nagaland & Southern Arunachal Pradesh.

The tournament, starting on September 23', 2024; will feature singles, doubles, and mixed doubles across various age groups from U-ll to over 60 years.

Chingpai Rangnamei, wife of late Lt Col Robert, and senior Indian Army officers will attend the inaugural ceremony.

The event will also showcase cultural performances, a participant parade, and badminton matches, the release added.
