Women's Football : Manipur team confident of re-snatching National Games Title

Manipur women's football team for the 35th National Games, Kerala (February 1 to 10) is confident of re-claiming the games title which the state lost to Odisha in the 34th edition of the games, said sources from the team management.
With the finalization of the line-up, the team is now looking forward to outshine formidable old foes and other rivals.
The final list of players selected to launch the head on campaign includes � E Panthoi Chanu as goal keeper with O Roshini Devi and L.Ronibala Chanu as substitutes/reserves; A Romi Devi; G Radharani Devi; Th Umapati Devi, L Madhabi and O Roshi Devi and H Bijaya Devi as defenders.
The midfielders include Ng Ngonbi Devi, O Bembem Devi (Captain); Y Premi Devi; Y Chandrajini Devi; M Mandakini Devi and K Keinakumari Devi.
Those who have been preparing to launch a full-on attack as strikers include I Parmeshwori Devi; Ng Bala Devi; Dangmei Grace; S.Rinaroy Devi and W Komlapati Devi.
The team will be managed by K Biren and coached by L Chaoba Devi, the only woman coach from Northeast India recognised Asian Football Confederation (AFC) assisted by s Manitombi Devi.
H Romita Devi and L Jyotirmoy will accompany the team as physio and official respectively.
Manipur placed in Group B; first encounter with Haryana.
As participating women's teams gear up for the National Games Title, Manipur women's team has been placed in Group B along with Jharkhand, Pondichery and Haryana.
Most traditional rivals have been placed in Group A which comprise of Kerala, Odisha, West Bengal and Delhi.
According to the match schedule available with Hueiyen Lanpao, Manipur will face Haryana at Corporation Stadium, Trissur on February 2. On February 4, the state eves will meet Pondicherry and the last match in the group will be played with Jharkhand.
A communiqu� from Vinod Panicker, Coordination Competition Department, All India Football Federation said that since the opening ceremony of the National Games will be held on January 31, all teams have been requested to report on January 30.The kick-off time will be informed during the managers meeting scheduled for January 31 .
