Bakshi memorial football concludes

The Bakhshi memorial football tournament organised by Aina Battalion concluded today at Parbung, Tipaimukh sub-division, Churachandpur district, said a statement issued by the PIB (Defence Wing) .
Red Shield Division General Officer Commanding Maj Gen PN Rao, graced the closing function as chief guest.
The General laid a wreath and paid tributes to (L) Lt Col Rajeev Bakhshi at the renovated Bakhshi Memorial.
Sub Sardari Lal of 13 DOGRA alongwith Hav Vijay who were part of the same operation in which Late Lt Col Rajeev Bakhshi made the supreme sacrifice were also present.
The tournament is organised annually in the memory of Late Lt Col Rajeev Bakhshi from 13 DOGRA.
The GOC while speaking on the occasion congratulated the winning team and complimented the sportsman spirit and enthusiasm shown by the teams.
Altogether 21 matches were played between 18 teams of Parbung region.
The tournament which is played on a knock-out basis began from January 13 .
All teams showcased their best skills, talents and spirit during the matches.
In today's final, 34th AR edged out Lungthullen FC by a margin of one goal to nil.
Maj SK Joshi emerged as the highest scorer of the tournament.
The Bakhshi Memorial Trophy along with a cash prize of Rs 10,000 were awarded to the team champion 34th AR while Lungthullen village received the runners up trophy along with a cash prize of Rs 7,000 .
The best goalkeeper and best player were awarded a cash prize of Rs 3,000 each.
