Anti-Rabies vaccination starts

With the alarming rise in dog bite cases all over the State, Sub-Divisional Veterinary Hospital, Kangpokpi has begun administering anti rabies vaccinations at Kangpokpi and its adjoining areas starting today.
More than 130 dogs were administered anti-rabies vaccination at Kangpokpi, Twisomjang and Charhajare today during the anti-rabies vaccination campaign organized by the office of the Deputy Director, Sub-Divisional Veterinary Hospital, Kangpokpi under the supervision of Dr RK Harshyam Singh, Veterinary Officer, Kangpokpi.
Talking to the media, Dr Harshyam said the vaccination programme was organised considering the alarming rise in dog bite cases in the State.
The programme would continue till all dogs under the sub-division have been vaccinated, he added.
Certificate of vaccination is also provided to all vaccinated dogs owners, Harshyam added.
For first timers, vaccine with validity of six months are registered while others are given one year validity said the Vet Officer.
Pregnants dogs should not be vaccinated, he warned.
The next session of the vaccination programme tomorrow will take place at Daili village, Kanglatongbi and such other places within the jurisdiction of Sub Divisional Vety.

Owners facing difficulties in taking their pets to the vaccination camp can apply through the letterhead of the village authority or youth club concerned through proper channel to avail the benefit.
He further said that adequate anti-rabies vaccines will be available in the State.
