Imphal, January 21 2015:
Despite the implementation of an order issued by the implementing agencies ie Khadi& Village Industries Commission (KVIC), Khadi & Village Industries Board (KVIB) and District Industries Centre (DIC) for immediate implemen-tation of Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) for the year 2013-14, the banks in Ukhrul district are remaining inactive for a long time.
According to a statement issued by Ramyo Shimray, convenor, Ukhrul District PMEGP Beneficiaries Association, no financial sanctions have been made by the banks in Ukhrul till date.
In this regard the beneficiaries have approached the banks concerned many times but the banks remain ineffective unheeding the requests of the beneficiaries, it alleged.
This protracted delay by the district authority including the banks concerned has greatly affected the poor beneficiaries who are at the receiving ends.
So far Ukhrul district is the only district where such a beautiful scheme as PMEGP is not yet implemented for the year 2013-14 whereas the other districts of Manipur are implementing it in full swing without any delay.
Therefore it is highly questionable as to why only Ukhrul district has been kept under such undue delay, it said.
Demanding the authority concerned to look into the matter and redress the grievances promptly, the association urged the authority concerned to fully and properly implement the scheme.
In a meeting of all the beneficiaries held at TTA Conference Hall, Hamleikhong, Ukhrul today the association resolved to press the district authority including the banks concerned in Ukhrul district to immediately implement the PMEGP scheme without any delay.
It further warned of resorting to various forms of agitation in the event of undue delay.
