Gujarat outclass Manipur in Sr Women's Cricket

Imphal, January 19 2023: Gujarat scripted a big win in the Senior Women's One Day Trophy at Vadodara Cricket Academy Ground as they beat Manipur by 178 runs.

This is the second consecutive defeat of Manipur in the tournament as the team have also lost its previous match to Andhra Pradesh.

Opted to field first, Manipur had a tough start as Gujarat showed its class in batting and knocked boundaries after boundaries and set a target of 258 runs in the 50 over match with opener Sarvi hitting 63 off 75 deliveries and middle order Hiralben Solanki smashing unbeaten 63 off 83 balls.

Other major run contributors of Gujarat include Janviben Patel (35 off 47 balls) and Leena K Patel (21 off 38 balls) .

Though Manipur lost its second match, Niruta displayed a fine bowling attack as she fell 4 wickets by giving away only 17 runs with an economy of 1.70 while her team-mate Ganga W took 3 wickets with an economy of 6.90.In the second innings the State's team played poorly as only three players of Manipur struck double-digit runs and hit only 80 runs altogether in 32.3 overs.

The three players who struck double digits were Kalpana (10 off 29 balls), Ganga W (26 off 42 balls) and Monica (25 off 35 balls/not out) .
