Dayanand Thoudam clinches KCA inter-school chess title

Imphal, May 31 2025:
Dayanand Thoudam of Shishu Nishtha Niketan emerged as the undisputed champion of the 1st Kanglei Chess Academy Inter-School Chess Tournament 2025, which wrapped up on Saturday.
Dayanand finished at the top with an impressive 8� points.
Lemba Sougaijam of Ramakrishna Mission secured the second position with 8 points, while Oinam Eerikhomba Khuman of St Joseph's School claimed third place with 7� points on tie-break.
In the Class I and Below category, the boys' section saw Wangthoi Ningthemcha, Azril Laishram, and Tywin Ningthoujam each scoring 4 points, with final rankings determined by their Buchholz scores.

Among the girls, Uhenbi Ningthemcha stood out with a perfect 5 points, followed by Rajkumari Linthoi with 3.5 points and Tahenbi Leishangthem with 2.5 points.
In the Class II to IV category, Leirikhomba Mangang and Magnus Chingsubam both scored 6 points in the boys' section, with Leirikhomba taking the top spot on tie-break.
Loitongbam Mayol followed closely behind with 5 points.
In the girls' section, Lorena Nameirakpam secured first place with 5 points, while Huirongbam Lanchenbi and Yurbashi Irom both earned 4 points and were separated by secondary tie-breaks.
In the Class V to VII category, Lanchenba Ngairangbam delivered a strong performance with 7 points to top the boys' section.
He was followed by Sinthoiba Ningthemcha and Hijam Pareingan-ba, both of whom scored 6 points but were ranked according to tie-break results.
On the girls' side, Rajasmita Hanjabam claimed first place with 6 points, while Chahaonu Ningombi and Rajkumari Baby each secured 5 points to complete the podium.
The tournament also recognised outstanding performances from specific academies:
Best Kanglei Chess Academy award: Prichard Elangbam and Tomthin Yunnam tied with 7 points, with Prichard winning on tiebreak.
Yaikhomba Huidrom finished third.
Best Leima Academy award: Wangkhem Galbin (5.5 Points) topped the group, followed by Sapam Romen Singh and Kakchingtabam Rishikanta Sharma.
Best Government School player: Tomsana Meinam delivered a commendable performance with 6 points.
