Governor's Cup Boxing C'ship : SRBA-A emerge overall team champions

Imphal, November 16 2024: Sarita Regional Boxing Academy (SRBA)-A emerged champions of the 2nd Governor's Cup Boxing Championship organised by the Manipur Amateur Boxing Association at Khuman Lampak Boxing Arena.

SRBA-A secured as many as 103 points off 17 gold, 10 silver and 6 bronze medals to finish on top of the medal tally as Mary Kom Boxing Academy (MKBA)-A finished runners up with 98 points off 16 gold, 12 bronze and 9 bronze medals and National Sports Academy finished second runners up on 41 points off 6 gold, 3 silver and 7 bronze medals.

Tongbram Manithoiba of SRBA-A and Gunshalu Khumba of MKBA-A were adjudged most promising boxers of the championship as Keisham Johnson of NBA and Luwangleima Soram of MKBA-A emerged best boxers.

Ningthoujam Khambaton of MKBA-A and Rinngam Vashi of SRBA-A were also respectively adjudged best men and women's challengers.

Last day highlight

Toijam Bhumabati of PBA won a unanimous 5-0 decision against SRBA-A's M Rosemary Chanu to seal the elite women's 50 kg category title today as Ningthoujam Manda of SAI STC Imphal bagged the 52 kg category title with a 5-0 unanimous decision win against Thongram Lanchenbee of UBA in the title bout.

Ahongsangbam Kajal meanwhile picked elite women's 54 kg category title with a 3-2 split decision win against Huidrom Griviya of MKBA-A while the 57 kg category went to Thongam Kunjarani of SRBA-A who overwhelmed Thoudam Prameshori of SAI STC Imphal with a 5-0 unanimous decision win.

Meanwhile, Sovi Jajo of MKBA-A clinched the 60 kg category title with a 4-1 split decision win against Huidrom Ambeshori of SRBA-A .
