9th MNCA Elite Tournament : CYCLONE notch up 138-run victory against KCC

Imphal, February 16 2025: CYCLONE, Thangmeiband sealed their 5th win in 6 matches of the 9th MNCA W Prahlada and W Ramananda Elite Tournament 2024-25 with an emphatic 138-run victory against KCC, Kongba Bazar at Model Hr Secondary and Oriental College ground.

CYCLONE racked up a noteworthy total of 234 runs for 7 wickets in the allotted 40 overs courtesy of half centuries from Muhammed Al Bashid and Nongthombam after electing to bat first and bowled out KCC for 96 runs in 20.3 overs thanks to prolific bowling performances from Suraj Nong, Kishan Laishram and Nongthombam Denin.

Al Bashid struck 5 fours and 4 sixes on the way to his 109-ball 90 to revive the CYCLONE innings after early setbacks before Nongthombam Denin joined the party and struck 6 fours and 3 sixes to post a 42-ball 63 .

The innings saw Wahengbam Somorjit of KCC claiming three wickets (3/61 in 7 overs) as Janab (2/40) picked two wickets.

Tayenjam Tomba (1/45) and Nameirakpam Arbin (1/23) of KCC also picked a wicket apiece in this innings.

In reply, KCC batters faced a torrid time and slumped to 96 all out in 20.3 overs as Suraj Nong (4/14 in 3.3 overs), Kishan Laishram (3/23 in 5 overs) and Nongthombam Denin (2/8 in 2 overs) shared 9 wickets.

Reolin Oinam (1/30 in 5 overs) also picked one wicket for CYCLONE as Ningombam Tony topscored for KCC with 37 runs and Rohen added second highest 11 runs.

Nongthombam Denin who starred with both the bat and ball was adjudged player of the match.
