Imphal, October 10 2026: United Committee Manipur (UCM) president YK Dhiren has stated that peace can be restored in Manipur only when the Centre rein in the proxy terrorists allegedly operating under its patronage.

Dhiren made the statement during the final Langbalgee Heishoi Tamba event held at Kekrupat remembering those who were killed in the June 2001 uprising, today .

At the site, Dhiren said that inimical forces have been conspiring to create disunity among the 36 communities of Manipur.

Describing the May 3, 2023 incident as a prime example of a divisive policy allegedly executed through proxy terrorists, he said that the Government has been portraying the crisis in Manipur as an ethnic conflict.

He said that everyone should condemn the Government for allegedly keeping Manipur in a constant state of unrest instead of working to resettle the displaced people and restore normalcy.

Reiterating that normalcy could be restored only by curbing the activities of the "proxy terrorists", he added that no other measures would be able to put Manipur back on the path to peace and stability.
