PM Modi meets Khemchand at Delhi
PM assures help to Manipur's peace efforts

New Delhi, October 10 2026:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today assured the Manipur Government of all possible assistance in its efforts to restore peace and normalcy in the State.
The Prime Minister gave the assurance when Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh called on him at his official residence at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg, in New Delhi, said a press statement issued by the CM's Secretariat.
Khemchand briefed the Prime Minister on the State Government's initiatives to restore peace and normalcy in Manipur.
He highlighted the resumption of Imphal-Dimapur-Guwahati bus services and efforts to ensure the free movement of goods-laden trucks along NH-37 (Imphal-Silchar road) and NH-2 (Imphal-Dimapur road) .

The Chief Minister also apprised the Prime Minister of his Government's efforts to bridge the trust deficit among different communities.
He urged the Prime Minister to approve the proposal to upgrade a few State Highways to National Highways.
Khemchand also requested the upgradation of the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, to the status of an All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) .
The Chief Minister also invited the Prime Minister to visit Manipur.
Modi acknowledged the State Government's efforts to restore peace and normalcy in Manipur and observed that the situation in the State has improved.
He further assured that all legitimate concerns of Manipur would be addressed, keeping in mind the aspirations of its people.
The Chief Minister proceeded to Delhi on October 7 to meet Central leaders of the BJP .
On October 8, the Chief Minister met Union Home Minister Amit Shah and the situation in Manipur was highlighted as well as the efforts taken up to usher in peace and normalcy in the State. During the meeting the Chief Minister extended an invitation to the Home Minister to which Amit Shah replied in the affirmative.
Khemchand has also met Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari during which he urged early completion of the ongoing works at NH-37 and NH-2 .
The Chief Minister also met Union Sports Minister Dr Mansukh Mandiviya during which the Union Minister assured to visit Manipur and oversee the various works.
