Take responsibility for the crisis: Joy to BJP Govt

Stating that the situation in Manipur has deteriorated to the extent that cases of cannibalism has emerged, apart from conflicts among different communities, veteran politician Okram Joy said that the BJP Governments at the Centre and in the State must take full responsibility for the crisis in Manipur that has been going on since May 3, 2023 .
He made the statement during a tribute-paying ceremony held in honour of Manipur's bravehearts at the memorial complex of King Gambhir Singh at Langthabal Kunja, today.
Speaking at the function, Joy said that the significance of Chahi Taret Khuntakpa (Seven Year Devastation) has become increasingly relevant in the context of the ongoing crisis in Manipur.
He also said that the sacrifices made by "our ancestors" had enabled Manipuris to survive.
He said that a black flag would be hoisted during the event to symbolise the commitment to safeguarding Manipur's territorial integrity and opposition to the Government's alleged divisive policy.
Saying that the memorial complex of King Gambhir Singh is not being properly maintained, Joy added that he plans to develop the site into a heritage park if he becomes a people's representative again.
The programme organised by Chahi Taret Khuntakpa, Iningthou Gambhir Singh and Athoubasing Ningshing Lup; Singjamei to Lilong United Clubs Organisation; Youth Alert, Langthabal; Langthabal Kendra Meira Paibi Co-ordinating Committee, Langthabal Kendra Co-ordinating Committee and Imagi Meira was attended by former UNLF chairman RK Meghen,, ex-MLAs N Mangi, RK Anand, E Dwijamani and All Manipur Women's Social Reformation and Development (Nupi Samaj) president Th Ramani among others.
During the event, tributes were paid to King Gambhir Singh, Nara Singh, Sana Herachandra and other unsung heroes and young bravehearts.
