Imphal, April 13 2009: The State Senior Women's football team who had clinched champion's title in the recent 17th Senior Women's National Football Championship, 2009 which was held at Bharati Stadium, Neyvelli of Tamil Nadu from February 27 to March 15 last.

The All Manipur Football Association (AMFA) organised the felicitation programme at the residence of its Treasurer, L Dinamani of Haobam marak Lourembam Leikai, Imphal today.

President, AMFA, A Santoshkumar and Vice President, AMFA P Raghumani graced the function as chief guest and president respectively.

Giving his speech, Santoshkumar said that the cooperation of the spectators is very important for the development of football in the state.

The act of shouting using uncivilised words by the spectators or fans will not bring any development.

Such acts will take the game into a different direction rather than development.

He further appealled the officials and fans to cooperate with the organisers and not use any uncivilised words or acts during and after the match.

It may be recalled that Manipur team had won the champion's title 15th times in all the 17 editions of the championship.

The other two times was won by West Bengal.

Manipur had defeated its rival West Bengal 2-0 in the final match and clinched the title for the 15th times and continued its saga of dominant nature.

The state senior women's football teams was constituted by L Ronibala Chanu, W Robita, W Thabal, K Rebika, A Romi, S Ibeyaima, Th Ranjita, H Thoi, K Tamphasana, O Bembem, N Geetarani Chanu, M Asharani, Ch Sanathoi Chanu, Y Kamala, Ng Bala, Th Tababi, L Naobi Chanu, N Roma and I Prameshwori.

They were accompanied by L Jyotirmoy Roy, S Premkanta and S Sanahanbi as team manager, team coach and team physiotherapist respectively.

Officials of the All Manipur Football Association (AMFA) expressed their heartfelt congratulations to the victorious Manipur Senior Women's football team for their success in retaining the champion's title of the championship for the 15 times in all the 17 editions.
