Marathon held on "Run for peace in Manipur" theme

Senapati, August 01 2024: A cross country marathon on the theme "Run for peace in Manipur" was held today in Senapati district organised by the Senapati District Students Association (SDSA) .

The marathon was held as a curtain raiser to the Senapati District Inter-School Sports Meet, 2024 slated to be held from August 3 till 7, 2024 .

Deputy Commissioner Senapati Mamoni Doley IAS flagged off the marathon was held under two categories -for high school students and open category.

The marathon witnessed the participation of energetic and delightful youths advocating the message for peace in crisis stricken Manipur.

All the participants gathered at the finishing point and shouted the slogan "We want Peace in Manipur" .

Speaking at the occasion, the DC Senapati said that taking part in any sports is not about winning but participation, respecting the opponents and uniting together.

She stressed on the need of restoration of peace and tranquillity in the State and urged all to make collaborative efforts to achieve the cause and foster communal harmony.

The DC also congratulated the winners of the marathon.

President of SDSA, Yunuo Peter stated that it is a significant day since the Senapati citizens have come out together voicing out for peace in the State which has been in turmoil since May, 2023 .
