IW's U Henthoiba, Y Raj, Ch Athouba and L Obama reach U-15 boys singles pre-quarters

Fourfrom Imphal West and three from Bishnupur advanced to the last 16 round of the U-15 boys singles competition in the ongoing 1st Thongbam Ibetombi Memorial Non-State Badminton Tournament.

Usham Henthoiba eased 21-6 21-8 past Ukhrul's Mangazat M Solo in a round of 32 clash this morning at Manipur Badminton Association's indoor hall at DM University Campus before Yumnam Raj overwhelmed Wisikambou Chawang of Senapati 21-5 21-4; Athouba Chongtham outlasted Korou Ahongsangbam of Thoubal 21-10 21-17; and Langdem Obama edged out Naorem Alex 21-13 10-21 21-12 .

Meanwhile Bishnupur's RK Bidyananda knocked out Imphal East's Maibam Senjies 21-14 21-19; Kh Bonyraj edged out compatriot RK Goldson 18-21 21-11 21-9 and Gurumayum Shattya Sharma eased past Imphal West's Khangembam Ronel Meitei 21-12 21-8 .

In other round of 32-matches, Daniesh Tekcham of Thoubal secured an easy 21-6 21-6 win over compatriot Yumnam Rajesh; Lourembam Henthoisana of Thoubal edged out Kakching's Sapam Wilver 19-21 24-22 21-15; Imphal East's Shoorsen Maibam edged out Bishnupur's RK Greemer 15-21 21-15 21-15; Ukhrul's Rinchuiyar Vashum edged out L Thoiba of Imphal West 21-10 20-22 21-19; Oken Moirangthem of Kakching edged out Imphal West's Angom Paikhomba 17-21 21-17 21-18; Moirangthem Price of Kakching beat Ningthujam Slash 21-11 13-21 21-8; Gonmei Poulouthui outlasted Imphal East's Denesh Sagolshem 21-15 21-19 and Tamenglong's Vandam Thoitak Chiru overcame Imphal West's M Kelvin 21-16 23-21 .

Seven from Imphal West progress into U-13 Boys singles pre-quarters

As many as seven young shuttlers from Imphal West have progressed into the last 16 round of the U-13 boys competition securing victories on Day 2 of the tournament organised under the aegis of the Manipur Badminton Association.

Reaching pre-quarters from Imphal West are Sorokhaibam Lanhenba who eased past compatriot K Chakhensana 21-6 21-7; Joyson Thokchom who edged out Th Belson of Imphal East 21-16 25-23; Kongbrailatpam Premsana Sharma who outlasted S Aditya Sharma of Imphal East 16-21 21-10 21-11; Salam Rajnath who edged out H Meethoiba of Imphal East 21-19 19-21 23-21; Bhaskar Khuraijam who eased past compatriot Gerry Laishram 21-5 21-11; Chirom Netcover who overwhelmed N Yaihenba of Imphal East 21-8 21-14 and Thoihenba Phurailatpam who prevailed 21-14 21-9 over Thoubal's Mahesh Laishram.

Others making it to the last-16 stage are K Anish of Thoubal who overcame Imphal West's Ng Newcon 21-14 21-15; Lungti Kuinah of Senaptai edged out Imphal West's P Devison 21-18 21-23 21-17; Ringthuiso Machiri of Ukhrul eased past Vivian Haobam 21-8 21-5; Bishnupur's RK Rendish who prevailed 21-5 21 -7 over Imphal Wests Birash Tongbram; Bishnupur's Sanasam Mahesh w\o overwhelmed Imphal West's Th Inunganba 21-7 21-12; Nameirakpam Asengyangba of Imphal East who edged out compatriot M Victor 19-21 21-13 21-18; Leonard Waikhom of Kakching who outlasted Imphal West's Ch Irabanta 21-17 21-9 and Loyangamba Leishungbam of Imphal East who eased 21-12 21-12 past H Bishal of Imphal West.
