Model Club thump YUCC by 47 runs as 10th Veteran T-20 Cricket tourney begins

Imphal, January 28 2023: The 10th edition of the Manipur Veteran T-20 Cricket Tournament organised by Manipur Veteran Cricket Association kicked off today at Luker ground with Model Club thrashing YUCC by 47 runs.

Model Club gathered a commendable total of 141 runs for 9 wickets after electing to bat first and restricted YUCC to 94 for 5 in the chase to open their Group B winning account.

S Priyobarta shone with a blistering knock of 58 runs off 45 balls for the winning team as his team mate Ajit followed suit by adding 37 runs.

Tomba emerged the pick of YUCC bowlers taking four crucial Model Club wickets for 19 runs while his teammate Bishworjit claimed 3 for 32 runs.

Mani and Somorjit also picked a wicket each to hold Model Club at 141 for 9 .

YUCC however failed to make the most of their chances and kept runs flowing in the chase as Model Club bowlers were too economical and the chase eventually ended at 94 even as 5 wickets were left in their hands.

Iboyaima and Saratchandra of Model Club enjoyed two wicket hauls in this innings as Tejkumar had one of the scalps.

S Priyobarta who hit a half century for Model Club was named man of the match.

11 teams clubbed into two groups are taking part in the tournament.
