Imphal, September 25 2026: Mortal remains of the four Naga civilians shot dead by KNA(B) at Pilong were laid to rest at Kamjong district headquarters today.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister has assured to deploy three companies of IRB at Pilong.

The funeral and burial service organised by the Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) was attended by a large number of people and they paid their last respect to Betterson Jajo s/o Tennison Jajo, Vareishim Jajo s/o Punina Jajo, Ningthem Kashak s/o Ningon Kashak and Phami Jajo s/o Vareishim Jajo.

Vareishim Jajo and Phami were father and son.

MLA Leishiyo Keishing, leaders of TNL, Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong, Tangkhul Shanao Long, Tangkhul Naga Zingsho Long Phang, Sambu Rai-ping Long, Raizan Long, Kamjong Katamnao Long, Zingsho Katamnao Long, Tangkhul Mayar Ngala Long, Sambu Raiping Katamnao Long and Eai-zang Katamnao long, and former Members of Autonomous District Council, Ukhrul also attended the funeral cum burial service.

Speaking at the gathering, MLA Leishiyo Kei- shing said that the four Naga civilians were killed by KNA-B .

It was an external aggression carried out by militants based in Myanmar, he asserted.

All the four individuals killed in the attack at Pilong on September 24, 2026 were civilians.

Attacking unarmed civilians is an act of terrorism, the MLA said.

The failure to gather intelligence in advance of the cross-border terrorism is a matter of grave concern.

Moreover, the Assam Rifles' response to the attack is far from satisfactory, Leishiyo said.

The MLA informed that Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand has given assurance to deploy three companies of IRB at Pilong.

Speaking to media persons, one Akhan Kaping from Pilong said that Pilong is a small village located near the Manipur (India)-Myanmar border.

Akhan Kaping said that he and the four men killed yesterday were guarding the village after women, children and other villagers shifted to safer places considering possible attacks from Kuki militants.

He said that they were taking rest at a spot where mobile networks were available when the village came under attack.

Just as Akhan Kaping went inside another house, a volley of gunshots were heard in close range.

He immediately ran to the nearby forest and hid there. After shooting dead the four Naga civilians, the attackers stayed at the village for almost one hour, apparently waiting for the coming of other villagers, Akhan Kaping said.

He said that he went to nearby villages only after the Kuki terrorists left the place and informed the villagers and police of the carnage.

On being enquired to some acquaintances residing in Myanmar, they said that the attack was carried out by KNA-B, Akhan Kaping added.
