Taibanganbi settles for silver at Junior Asian Judo C'ship

Imphal, July 20 2026: State judoka Khaidem Taibanganbi was also among Indian medallists at the Junior Asian Judo Championship that concluded yesterday at Amman, Jordan.

Her medal came after Linthoi Chanambam clinched a gold medal and Leishangthem Nungshithoi fetched a silver medal.

Taibanganbi delivered an outstanding performance against Durdona Tursunova of Uzbekistan in the junior women's -70 kg category final bout but went down narrowly to finish with the silver medal.

Notably, Linthoi secured India's solitary gold medal at the junior continental event as Taibanganbi and Leishangthem Nungshithoi bagged silver medals.

Linthoi's sister, Jeeny Chanambam secured a bronze medal in the cadet competition (-57 kg category) of the Amman event.

Khaidem Taibanganbi is the daughter of Khaidem Gunamani and Khaidem Ongbi Binolata of Mayang Imphal Thana Wangkhei Leikai.
