FORCE, TCMDC post contrasting wins in 3rd Women's T-20 Trophy

FORCE, Kshetrigao crushed SHADOW, Thangmeiband by 83 runs as TCMDC, Thongju Part II Pechu Lampak beat YPHUC, Lalambung by 5 runs in today's matches of the ongoing 3rd Women's T-20 Trophy 2024-25 at THAU ground, Thangmeiband.
In the Group A match staged this morning, Barkatun Khanam scored a century to set up the big win for FORCE who won the toss and opted to bat first.
Barkatun and Mehanaz 38 off 24 balls gave FORCE a prolific start by forging a 126-run opening partnership before Barkatan held on to post a 61-ball 100 on the back of 20 fours.
Neha who joined Barkatun at No 3 and gathered 42 runs held on to remain unbeaten on 29 off 23 balls with Sumeiya Shahni 16 off 12 balls to give SHADOW a target of 208 runs.
For SHADOW, Hanglem Priyanshee 1/33 and Thokchom Victoria 1/35 shared a wicket apiece in this innings before they ended up gathering 124/7 in the chase despite sensible knocks from Laishram Viviene 45 off 36 balls and Sapam Kebriya Devi 25 off 34 balls.
Wakila Shahni 1/13, E Firdos 1/17, Nagama Sheikh 1/20 and Kh Rukshad 1/6 were among the wickets for FORCE in this innings.
Barkatun who produced a stellar batting performance was adjudged player of the match.
In the Group B match staged later in the day, TCMDC added 131/5 after opting to bat first and bundled out YPHUC for 126 in 19.3 overs to seal the narrow win.
Athokpam Tennish scored 57 off 57 balls and Sothoi Thongam scored 33 off 32 balls in the TCMDC innings that saw Tongbram Nilky 2/ 37, Soubam Eriklembi 4/31 and Charoibam Joyshree 1/30 sharing 5 wickets apiece for YPHUC.
In reply, Japani Irom 26 off 34 balls and Joyshree 25 off 29 balls gave YPHUC a positive start but their departure marked the turning point for the team as wickets kept falling in regular intervals.
Tongbram Nilky, who came in at no3, also added 33 off 13 to keep the chase alive after a flurry of four wickets by taking the team past the 100-run mark but her dismissal for the 5th wicket impacted the chase before they slumped to 126 all out.
Yensembam Nikita was the pick of the TCMDC bowlers finishing with figures of 3/13 while Priyadasni returned with 2/15.Athokpam Tennish, who hit a half century and picked a wicket, was adjudged player of the match.
